Rheology and structure of a suspension of deformable particles in plane Poiseuille flow

We present an experimental study of the rheology and structure a confined suspension deformable particles flowing in quasi-two-dimensional Poiseuille flow. Thanks to precise microfluidic viscosimetry technique combined with measurements concentration profiles, our provides first confirmation {with three-dimensional particles} strong relationship between structuring effects rheology, previously only reported numerical simulations purely two-dimensional systems. In conditions where take place due confinement, evolution effective viscosity particle (here, red blood cells) shows remarkable succession ranges rapid growth plateaus that are associated qualitative transitions suspension.
